Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for details.
A senior representative commented the vandalism left him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
